Roadside Memorials

I don't understand putting a roadside memorial where someone was killed. Today when hubby and I were going to Lowe's, we saw a large group of people putting flowers on a busy road where someone was killed. To me, it seems that they should be visiting and paying respects at their graveside or a place where their loved one enjoyed going. Why go to the place that caused so much pain to the family?

Am I missing something?

  1. I am kind of with you on this one. The memorial, however, serves as a reminder to all to drive safely or else. In Florida there are "drive safely" signs that are stuck in the middle of the flowers.
