How do you know?

I have a question that has been bugging me for a while and I have not been able to come up with the answer, so hopefully some of you can help me with the dilemma. Career wise, how does a person know they are doing what they are supposed to be doing? Some people say they just know and others say they feel lucky to be paid for what they are doing. But how did they know that was what they wanted to do? Did they always know or did they stumble in to it? Or perhaps they woke up one morning and decided that was what they were going to do.

  1. Good question. I don't have an answer, other than I still don't know what I should be doing, but I want to get out of my current situation. I guess you know when it's wrong! I've had a wide range of careers, and none of them have ultimately satisfied me. Now I'm caught as I need to stay with the state for retirement purposes (it's bad enough I started so late) and, due to my lifestyle, I refuse to make changes, such as moving. I'm also paid a good enough salary that it's tough to find something comparable, at least right away. Sorry for ranting-can you tell I'm not happy career wise? LOL.
